The technically terrible bash heads with the blatantly abhorrent. The ones with terrible camerawork take on the ones with terrible messages. Who comes out on top of the mountain of darkness? Let's find out.
The film was based on the graphic novel of the same name, written and drawn by James O’Barr. After his girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver in 1978, O’Barr had tried to move on, but found himself “…still filled with such rage and frustration that I had to get it out before it destroyed me.”
Sodor not only gets bombed by Nazis, but deals with Blackshirt rallies, clandestine Fascist meetings, and some of the engines even go to the front lines themselves.
It's only 20 minutes or so, but it's an effectively touching short story about love and loss that makes the most of its runtime.
Based on ratings alone, the past year had less stinkers in it, but it had more 'eh' entries. Most of the bad films I picked out either had some entertainment value despite being technically sub-par, or had all the right elements but failed to make something great out of it.
Yet Jojo is an intimidating series. It's been running more or less continuously since 1987, and currently running through its 8th part Jojolion. But that's over 32 years' worth of manga chapters, with multitudes of protagonists, antagonists, side characters, stands and moments of complete insanity.
Yes. Mr Vampire. Or Goengsi Sinsang in its native Cantonese. This isn't the kind of vampire from your local housewife's wet dream either. Or, if it is, your local housewife has problems.
These aren't arranged by review scores, but by comparison to all the other films I've reviewed, and whether I'd see any of them a second time or not. '10' would be a No, while '1' would be a Hell No, basically.
Granted, kaiju films aren't exactly high art- don't think an 8/10 or 9/10 rating makes it on par with Blade Runner or Gandhi. It's just how good or bad it is compared to the other Godzilla films
